Roswell Firefighter Honored For Rescuing Man from Fire

A Roswell fire captain was honored this weekend for his quick action in helping save the life of a homeowner from a house fire.

The Georgia State Firefighters Association (GSFA) presented Fire Captain Jarrett Jenkins with the 2015 Life Saving Valor Award on Saturday at the Georgia Fire Service Conference. Jenkins helped save the life of a man who was trapped inside their home on Crestview Circle during a fire on April 6, according to the GSFA. Jenkins searched the home, found the victim unconscious and pulled the victim out of the house to emergency crews.

The GSFA said that the victim survived because of Captain Jenkins’ quick action.

“We are very proud to call Captain Jenkins one of our own and applaud his leadership and bravery in this situation,” said Ricky Burnett, Chief of the Roswell Fire Department. “His actions are a testament to the selfless service and commitment our firefighters have to keeping our residents safe.”

The Life Saving Valor Award is one of many awards given out annually by GSFA through its recognition program.
