Rockdale County firefighter killed in crash

ROCKDALE COUNTY, Ga. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - The Rockdale County Fire Rescue Department is mourning the loss of one of their own.

Robert Sewell was killed in a traffic crash Thursday morning near the intersection of Ebenezer and Johnson roads. Authorities said he was on his way to work in his personal vehicle at the time. Investigators believe the wet roads played a factor in the crash.

Chief Dan Morgan said the whole department was hit hard by the loss. He said this is the second firefighter death in the last two years.

"Robert Sewell was and asset to our department and a natural leader, he will be missed by us all," the chief said.

Funeral services have not yet been planned.
