Robbery suspect arrested after SWAT standoff in Spalding County

An hours-long standoff in Spalding County has ended with one man in police custody.

Officers told FOX 5 23-year-old Reginald Collier is a suspect at a Dollar General Store robbery that happened on Wednesday on Bicycle Road.

Investigators say they tracked Collier down to an apartment on North Hill Street Friday afternoon.

When they entered the apartment, they say Collier "retreated" into a closet, which he used to access the attic of the building, then refused to cooperate.

SWAT officers finally used pepper spray to get him to surrender. He's been charged with one count of robbery.

Griffin police believe the 23-year-old suspect may have been involved in other crimes they are investigating in the city.

Police arrested a second suspect, identified as 18-year-old Caleb Barkley, and have charged him with obstruction of officers and hindering the apprehension of a fugitive.
