Reward offered for information on bald eagle shooting

OOLTEWAH, Tenn. (AP) — The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency is offering a reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to a conviction in the fatal shooting of a bald eagle in Hamilton County earlier this year.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service announced the reward offer in a news release Thursday.

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency officers say they found the eagle dead on March 9 near an Ooltewah-area subdivision. They believe the eagle was killed sometime between March 1 and March 9.

Bald eagles are protected by the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act and the Migratory Bird Treaty Act.

Anyone with information on the killing of the eagle should contact the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Special Agent at 615-736-5532, ext. 103, or TWRA at 931-787-0859.
