Officials have increased the reward in the case of a brutal murder of a woman who police said resisted a trio of carjackers. Police have also released new surveillance video.

Atlanta Police said three men seen on surveillance behind a number of stores are the suspects in the murder of LaVonda Finklea.

Police said the men confronted the 35-year-old at the Burger King next door to where they were recorded.

Investigators said Finklea was shot and killed when she resisted the trio of carjackers on the night of Friday the 13.

“I’d like for them to find justice I mean nobody should go through that right. If they do it once they could do it again, that’s how I feel,” said Kenroi Mitchell, a local resident.

Mitchell said he was shocked and saddened to learn that Finklea’s car, which was still in drive when she was shot, rolled to a stop in Kroger parking lot when it hit another vehicle.

Atlanta Police have now upped the Crime Stoppers reward from the usual $2,000 to $5,000.

“They need Justice by all means,” said Yamesia Simms, a local resident. “The reward needs to be higher.”

Some who spoke to FOX 5 News, like Terrence Alan, had already seen the recent APD surveillance video of three men believed responsible for the murder in the parking lot where they regularly shop.

“If it was like your family member or my family member you know you’d be putting as much time in as you could to find who this person is,” said Terrence Alan.

Atlanta Police, on-site at the Kroger Tuesday evening, hope the new higher amount reward spurs somebody to call them with tips leading to whoever took the life of LaVonda Finklea.

“I hope they get justice. That’s all I can say. I hope they get the guys that do this,” said Kenroi Mitchell.

Anyone with information is asked to call Atlanta Police or Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS.
