Restoration work began at the Herndon Home Museum Thursday in Atlanta.

The National Trust for Historic Preservation's Hope Crew Program along with the Greening Youth Foundation are hoping to bring new life to the historic home.

Crews worked to preserve work on the wooden rear porch and metal railing.

The museum is the home of Atlanta’s first black millionaire and founder of Atlanta Life Insurance Company.
