Residents say sewage leaves Buckhead park unsafe

For most of us, a heavy rain might cause some driving problems.

For hundreds of Atlanta residents who are neighbors to some of the city's creeks, the swollen combined sewer systems can blow the covers off manholes. Dirty even dangerous water spews.

The residents adjacent to Peachtree Creek have taken pictures and they have sent them to their council members.

Now, Yolanda Adrean and Mary Norwood are calling on water chief, Jo Ann Macrina, to take more aggressive action to clean that creek. And it sits next to a city park where moms bring their children to play.

Water spokesperson Lillian Govus says the numbers of discharges have actually decreased. She promises a long term solution is being designed.
