A dog found tied up on the side of the road in Douglas County held on for six weeks, but has now succumbed to his injuries.

Now, Douglas County deputies are asking for public's help finding the person responsible for leaving that dog to die.

Animal control found the German Shepherd mix back in February. Employees at Kay Animal Hospital cared for the dog and named him Frank.

Authorities said he was nearly decapitated by a tether pulled so tight, it cut deep into his neck. Frank went straight into surgery

But on Wednesday, they determined his injuries were too great and they had to put him down. Employees at the animal hospital said it is one of the worst animal abuse cases they have ever seen.

Now, those who loved and cared for him are asking the public to help find the person or people responsible for doing this to an innocent animal.

Call the Douglas County Sheriff's Office if you have any information.
