Firefighters battle intense blaze on Redd Road in Milton
MILTON, Ga. - Milton firefighters and neighboring crews battled a fast-moving house fire Thursday night that left a local home uninhabitable and destroyed several vehicles.
What we know:
Milton firefighters arrived at the scene between Hagood and Brittle roads just six minutes after receiving a 911 call at 7:42 p.m. Thursday. They found a home and an accessory structure fully engulfed in flames. Roughly six golf carts on the property accelerated the fire's intensity, causing intermittent popping and small explosions.
Crews from the Alpharetta Fire Department assisted in extinguishing spot fires sparked by flying embers in three neighboring yards. While the fire was contained to the primary property, the residence was left uninhabitable. One person was assessed for injuries at the scene, but no one required transport to a hospital.
What we don't know:
Investigators have not yet determined the exact origin of the fire or what caused the initial spark. It remains unclear if any specific electrical or mechanical issue with the golf carts contributed to the start of the blaze or if they simply fueled it after it began.
What they're saying:
The property owner told Milton Fire that he is "very appreciative of firefighters’ efforts as well as generous offers of assistance from the greater Milton community." He added that he "wants people to know he is OK and does not have any immediate needs."
