Red Cross distributing Irma relief supplies throughout coastal Georgia
SAVANNAH, Ga. - The American Red Cross is distributing Hurricane Irma relief supplies throughout coastal Georgia on Saturday. The storm impacted many areas near the coast of the state.
Volunteers are mobilizing a robust response to provide comfort and supplies. Damage assessment is beginning in areas that were inaccessible.
Powerful storms create large amounts of damage and more needs than any one organization can meet on its own.
The Red Cross is working closely with the entire response community to coordinate relief efforts to ensure people receive the help they need as quickly as possible.
Hurricane Irma left over one million people in the state of Georgia without power, and the amount of damage is still being assessed.
