Rapper Rick Ross pleads 'no contest' to assault charge

FAYETTE COUNTY, Ga. - Rapper Rick Ross has struck a deal in his kidnapping trial.

Ross appeared before a Fayette County judge on Tuesday. The case stems from a 2015 incident where his former employees claimed the rapper and his manager beat and pistol whipped them.

Last year, Ross and his manager sought immunity claiming they acted in self-defense.

Under the deal, Ross pleaded “No Contest” to one felony count of aggravated assault. The other felony charges were dropped.

The rapper was also given a total of 60 months of probation for five misdemeanors.

Ross was sentenced as a first-time felony offender so once he pays the $10,000 fine the conviction will be erased from his record.
