Pricey Pups Stolen from Pet Store

DUNWOODY, Ga - The hunt is on for some crooks who stole some pricey puppies. It happened at a Petland store in Dunwoody.

The owner said the smash and grab occurred in less than three minutes. Hunt McDannald told Fox 5 News seven puppies were stolen from their acrylic glass enclosures by three men in hoodies. The puppies included a white Bull Terrier, Boston terrier, Cocker Spaniel, Shih Tzu, red English bulldog, Cockapoo, and a Walker.

McDannald said he believed the crooks stole the dogs for themselves or to give as gifts to people; Perhaps to sell the puppies for a quick profit.

He said the value of the dogs is more than $17,000.

The puppies were stolen before Christmas. They're all embedded with micro-chips to be easily identified. But McDannald is concerned whoever has the little dogs won't bother with medical care.

McDannald is asking metro Atlanta area veterinarians as well as animal shelters to be on the lookout for the pups and call police if they're suspicious.
