Pregnant Teen Shot at MARTA Station
ATLANTA - The family of 16-year-old Brittany Strozier said she and her new baby girl are both going to be alright following Saturday morning's shooting near the Oakland City MARTA Station.
Strozier, who was eight months pregnant, was shot around 12:30 a.m. on Van Buren Street Southwest. A 17-year-old male was also shot in the leg and treated for non life-threatening injuries.
Strozier was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in critical condition, where doctors delivered her baby girl six weeks early. Strozier's mother, Tachelle Harris, said both her daughter and her new granddaughter are going to be alright.
MARTA Police said the shooting was likely a drive-by, but have few leads to go on. At this point, investigators have not released any descriptions of suspects or said what may have motivated this attack.
Family members are asking anyone with information about the shooting to come forward.
