UPDATE at 7:00 a.m.: After working throughout the night, power crews have restored power for hundreds of people in southwest Atlanta.

Atlanta Fire crews say power went out Sunday afternoon around 3:00 p.m. and affected apartments and homes on Landrum Drive.

Landrum Drive was also temporarily blocked by pedestrians and cars during the initial aftermath of the storm Sunday.

Crowds of people became increasingly frustrated at the time-frame of Georgia Power crews, as downed power lines blocked people from driving in and out of the driveway at the Eagle's Nest apartments.

Fire crews called for MARTA buses to serve as mobile cooling stations while power had yet to be restored.

Red Cross crews came late Sunday night to assist residents that needed power due to health issues.
