Gwinnett County Police are investigating after a woman with stab wounds got into a number of car accidents Thursday morning.

Officers responded to a stabbing call around 8 a.m. on Oak Road in Lilburn after a woman was seen along the roadway, covered in blood.

According to police, the woman was traveling down Oak Road when she came to an abrupt stop and was then struck in the rear by another vehicle. Investigators said she pulled into a parking lot, then drove back out onto Oak Road before exiting her car.

A passerby, who was a tow truck driver, assisted the woman, who police said was "covered in blood." Authorities say the woman began walking toward the wood line. Then, some paramedics happened to drive by and took the woman to Gwinnett Medical Center, where she's expected to survive.

Investigators aren't sure if she was a victim or if the stab wounds were self-inflicted.

Police say that prior to this accident, the woman was involved in at least two other accidents near the intersection of Five Forks Trickum near Oak Road.

Detectives say they are working to determine where the stabbing took place, why the woman was involved in several accidents, and why she stopped her vehicle in the roadway.
