Police: Woman hurt in drive-by shooting
ATLANTA - Gunfire from a drive-by shooting early Thursday morning sent neighbors in the Leila Valley community ducking for cover, but sent one neighbor to the hospital.
"I jumped down on the floor. I heard four or five gunshots. It scared me to death," said neighbor Dorothy Watts.
Police said early Thursday morning in Southeast Atlanta, a vehicle drove down Valley View Road and fired bullets that flew into one home. Police said a woman inside was struck in the arm.
Witnesses told police a grey sedan fled the scene.
The woman was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital.
Police said shell casings from a rifle and handgun were recovered at the scene.
No word from police on a possible motive for the drive-by shooting, or why one house was the target of the gunfire.
"We try to stay safe. That's all we can do," Watts said.
Anyone with any information is asked to call Atlanta Police or Crime Stoppers.
