Police trying to identify crawling burglary suspect

Conyers Police are trying to identify a suspect linked to several burglaries of Acceptance Insurance locations across metro Atlanta.

The suspect has hit locations in Cobb, Stockbridge, Atlanta, Decatur and Conyers, according to police.

The burglar—described as a tall, slender black male— is shown in surveillance video crawling across the floor to a safe and, police say, he gets away with the cash every time.

Conyers Police Sgt. Kim Lucas says, in the video, you can see the suspect scoping out the location.

Police say he uses a crow bar to pry open the back door and appears to be in no rush, once inside the location.

In the Conyers break-in, cameras captured the man's vehicle—a red or maroon, small Ford Ranger with damage to the grill.

Back in July when that break-in occurred, detectives spotted something else on the truck.

"He had a donut on front right passenger side; it's been a month now I don't know if he would still one at this point," said Lucas.

But Sgt. Lucas says she knows the truck is distinctive enough and so is the suspect. She’s hoping someone will come forward sooner than later.

"Obviously, he keeps continuing this same pattern,” she said. “We have reason to believe he's not going to stop, unless we get him arrested."

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call Crimes Stoppers at 404 577-TIPS.
