Police: Suspect who pointed weapon at deputies fatally shot

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) - Authorities say deputies in Tennessee fatally shot a man who tried to flee and then pointed a weapon at them.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says a Hamilton County sheriff's deputy tried to stop 29-year-old Christopher Dalton Sexton for allegedly violating an order of protection.

An agency statement says Sexton fled, but a deputy eventually forced his vehicle from the road Tuesday evening in the town of Soddy Daisy. The bureau says Sexton got out and pointed a weapon at several deputies, who fatally shot him.

The bureau says no law enforcement officers were injured. The bureau released no additional information.

The county clerk's office says the protective order was filed on behalf of his wife, Lindsay Sexton, their son, and her daughter.
