Police: Shooting on MARTA bus near H.E.Holmes station

Police said a gunman is in the run after a shooting on a MARTA bus Thursday evening.

It happened around 8 p.m. along Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive near the Hamilton E. Holmes MARTA Station. Police said the shooter ran from the scene.

A MARTA Police spokesperson said the shooter and the victim were on the bus when gunshots rang out, and the suspect fled the scene. 

The victim was reportedly conscious and alert when he was taken to the hospital and is being treated for injuries.  

Witnesses around the bus stop reported an argument before gunshots rang out. 

A tweet sent out by MARTA reported that trains were being held at the nearby Hamilton E. Holmes MARTA Station, but shortly after, tweets showed service resumed. 

MARTA Police have not yet released a description of the gunman.
