Police Searching for Suspected Arsonist

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Gwinnett County investigators are searching for a suspected arsonist.

They say 65-year-old Cliff David Malone is suspected of having set a fire to a home on Amelia Garden Way in Lawrenceville on Sunday.

A spokesman for Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services said arson investigators were able to link evidence from the fire to Malone.

The homeowners earlier told FOX 5 News they suspected Malone because he employed one of them previously and had threatened her.

The Gwinnett County police report states the homeowner in his vehicle pursued a silver Toyota 4-Runner which had been in the neighborhood to Winder Highway before giving up.

It also states someone let the family dogs out of the house and when the home owners returned they came back to their home on fire.

The homeowners had also filed a protective order against Malone, claiming he'd been seen in their neighborhood and had burglarized their home.

Arson investigators said Malone will likely face other charges.
