Police: Man shot in leg by would-be robber

LAGRANGE, Ga. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - LaGrange police officers are investigating an attempted robbery that ended in a shooting Tuesday night.

According to officials, officers were called to the 900 block of Georgia Avenue at around 8 p.m. after a report of a shooting.

When they got to the scene, police found the victim, identified as Ronnie Sargent, with a gunshot wound in his upper leg.

Sargent told police that he was walking on nearby Graphic Street when he was approached by a black car driven by a man.

The man tried to rob him, Sargent said, and pulled out a gun and shot him in the leg.

Medics transported Sargent to a nearby hospital for treatment.
