Police: Man shot despite giving armed robbers what they want

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - A man was shot during an armed robbery early Tuesday morning. 

DeKalb County police said the victim was talking to his girlfriend at the corner of Bellingrath Way and Shadow Rock Drive.

Investigators said two armed men came up to the couple near the entrance of a subdivision located in unincorporated Lithonia. One gunman demanded the male victim turn over his belongings, which he did.  But police said that did not prevent the robbers from opening fire.

The man was shot in the leg. Paramedics rushed the victim to Grady Memorial Hospital with what are described as non-life-threatening injuries.

Police on the scene could not provide FOX 5 News a good description of the suspects, including if they were wearing masks.
