Police investigate homicide at apartment complex

Gwinnett County Police said a man could have been dead for hours before he was found shot in the head and are asking the public for information to help find a killer.

Police said around 3:45 p.m. at the Ashford Jackson Creek Apartment on Sunrise Village Lane off Jimmy Carter Boulevard, a man called 911 to report he found his roommate wounded and deceased.

Investigators said the victim was a Hispanic man in his 40s.

Police said there were no signs of forced entry, and believe the suspect was known by the victim.

Detectives are interviewing the roommate and his girlfriend to piece together information about the murder and a timeline surrounding his death.

Crime scene techs also deployed "foray" 3-D technology to digitally scan the crime scene and properly document evidence.

Residents said they were surprised when officers knocked on their door.

"I was here pretty much all day and didn't hear anything," said Jud Van Deusen, who was inside a unit with his girlfriend in the same building as the crime scene.

Police are withholding the person's identity until they notify the victim's family.
