Police investigate drowning at Clayton County apartment pool

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. - Authorities said the 5-year-old boy who was found unresponsive in a Clayton County apartment pool Wednesday night has died.

Clayton County fire officials said they responded to a 911 call around 8:40 p.m. at the Pointe Clear apartments located in the 7500 block of Tara Road. Fire officials said they found a 5-year-old boy and began to stabilize and transport him. He was rushed to Southern Regional Medical Center in serious condition where he later was pronounced dead.

The child’s mother said the boy had wandered away from his family.

The name of the child has not yet been released.
