Police: Homeless man arrested for armed robbery

Police have arrested a man they say robbed a pedestrian in Midtown Atlanta.

Officials say the robbery happened on Aug. 14 around 9 p.m. in the area of Peachtree Street and 8th Street.

During the investigation, another victim in the area called police and told them he was attacked by an armed man.

The victim told police that he was approached by a man who asked him for money. When the victim said he had no money, he said the suspect got mad, told him he had a weapon, and assaulted him.

After an investigation, police secured a warrant for armed robbery for 46-year-old Anthony Hand. He was found on Friday.

Police say Hand, who is homeless, tried to give officers a fake name, but they recognized him from his wanted notice.

Hand is now in the Fulton County Jail. The investigation is ongoing.
