Police: Group pistol-whips, robs man near Buckhead apartments

Neighbors and employees in a northeast Atlanta community are on alert after police said a group viciously attacked a man during a robbery.

The incident happened last Tuesday behind apartments on Morosgo Drive between Buckhead and Midtown, according to Atlanta Police.

Officers told FOX 5 News the man was walking in the area after playing soccer at another complex on Sidney Marcus Boulevard. They said the pedestrian was attacked by four men who grabbed, kicked, hit and pistol-whipped him before stealing his backpack and wallet.

Witnesses said they saw the attack and honked their car horns to make the men go away.

Other witnesses reported hearing the blare of the horn and seeing the men run.

Surveillance cameras captured the men but the image is blurry, according to the incident report. However, investigators believe the getaway car was a tan Toyota Camry or Corolla.

The victim said he recognized two of the men from the complex where he played soccer earlier in the day.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Atlanta Police.
