Police: Forest Park kidnapping story bogus

Authorities in Forest Park launched an extensive search for a purported kidnapping victim. Now, police said, they don't think that crime ever occurred.

On Wednesday, a call came in about armed gunmen approaching three women at a bank as they were getting money from an ATM. The women, identified by police as Lashay Jackson and Justice Watford, claimed the men grabbed cash, stole a car, and took the owner, a woman named Cassandra, with them.

Every detective on the police department was reassigned to conduct a search, but the story did not add up.

Investigators located Cassandra. She told police she was not there and knew nothing about the story. A police manager believes the woman. They don't believe the other two.

Her account, according to Captain James Delk, is believable. Authorities now want to hear an explanation from Jackson and Watford who may be hit with felony false report charges and obstruction.
