What they're saying:
Authorities announced Friday afternoon that a warrant has been issued for 48-year-old Christopher Bradshaw of Canton, charging him with felony homicide by vehicle in the second degree and felony hit and run. Investigators say Bradshaw, through his attorney, has indicated that he intends to turn himself in.
What we know:
The fatal crash occurred around 2:30 a.m. on Aug. 13 near the South Marietta Parkway exit. According to investigators, two tractor-trailers sideswiped each other while traveling northbound and pulled over to exchange information. As 36-year-old Lowdermilk of Chattanooga stood in the left lane of the entrance ramp, he was hit by a black 2020 Chevrolet Silverado that fled the scene. He died at the location.
Police announced earlier on Friday that they had located the Silverado with help from the Cobb County Police Department’s Real Time Crime Center and public tips. Marietta police say extensive evidence collection — including debris with traceable serial numbers — paired with interviews and traffic camera footage led them to identify Bradshaw as the suspected driver.
"We ask the public to please keep the Lowdermilk family in their prayers. These charges would not have been possible without the initial officer’s diligence combing the scene for evidence as well as the countless hours investigators spent working to bring justice to the surviving family and friends," the Marietta Police Department said.
