Police: driver overcorrected, struck school bus head-on in deadly crash

Maria T. Timen, 78, of Locust Grove was killed after police said her 2009 Hyundai Sonata veered into the opposite lane of traffic, striking a school bus while traveling east on Hampton Locust Grove Road just after 4 p.m. Police believe Timen overcorrected.

SKYFOX 5 flew over the scene located near the Wycliffe Drive intersection around 6 p.m. It spotted the smashed in front of the bus and the Sonata.

There were four students on the bus, ages 14 to 17, at the time of the crash. School officials said they go to Luella High School. Police said the driver and one of the students complained of minor injuries and were treated at the scene.

The accident is still under investigation.
