A woman is dead after a bullet came through an apartment wall and struck her as she slept, according to investigators.

DeKalb County Police told FOX 5 News the shooting happened Saturday inside EastWyk Village on Candler Road in unincorporated Decatur.

The victim is identified as 37-year-old Tijuana Frazier.

Frazier's family spoke with FOX 5's Marissa Mitchell on Thursday.

Relatives said the mother of three was at the complex visiting a friend when she was killed.

"For me, it is senseless. It seems to happen so much. And for it to hit home, it hurts," said Mildred Collins-Williams, Frazier's mother. "A stray bullet came in, traveled through the bed, hit her in the back and came out through her chest."

Relatives said they were in the complex the same day holding a vigil for a family member who died from an illness. They had no idea Frazier was in a unit in the back of the complex.

Her brother, Ray Kendrick, pleaded for someone with information to come forward.

"If people keep quiet, it will just keep happening," Kendrick said. "And next thing you know, it will be your family member."

Frazier would have celebrated a birthday later this month.

Investigators haven't made any arrests in the case. If you have any information, please call DeKalb County Police.
