Atlanta Police searched well into Tuesday evening for a man who carjacked a vehicle in East Point, fired shots at officers, and then ran.

SKYFOX 5 flew over the end of a brief pursuit in the 2600 block of Old Hapeville Road around 5 p.m.

East Point Police told Atlanta Police about the stolen car. Atlanta police officers found it an apartment complex near the 2600 block of Old Hapeville Road.

The officers noticed two men inside the car. Investigators said that's when the pair of suspects tried to run. When officers attempted a stop, the passenger left the car and started firing. The other began to drive toward the officers.

Police said the driver, identified as 23-year-old Nicholas White, was shot and taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in stable condition.

The other suspect, who has not been identified, reportedly ran from the scene. That suspect remained at large as of late Tuesday evening.

Officials said no officers were hurt.

The GBI has been asked to investigate the officer-involved shooting aspect of the incident.
