Plane grounded at Tucson airport after bird strike

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — A flight at Tucson International airport was grounded for several hours after a bird strike.

Delta Air Lines spokeswoman Elizabeth Wolf says the aircraft, which was bound for Atlanta, was about to take off from the runway Friday morning when it encountered at least one bird.

Wolf says the airplane returned to the terminal and passengers got off.

No injuries were reported.

Maintenance technicians examined the plane, which stayed on the ground.

According to Wolf, another aircraft was flown to Tucson take the 160 passengers to their destination.

The flight, which was scheduled for just after 6 a.m., departed at 2 p.m.
