Pit bulls that attacked young boy to be put down
WALTON COUNTY, Ga. - Three pit bulls that officials say attacked a child in Walton County will be euthanized after their owner formally surrendered them to authorities.
Authorities say that Derick Murphy, the dogs' owner, was reluctant to surrender his pets, so he was served with three notices of vicious dog classification papers. He then voluntarily surrendered the dogs on Tuesday afternoon.
According to police, the dogs attacked a 9-year-old child. When a neighbor intervened, the dogs turned on her, biting her in the face.

The Loganville Police Department has filed charges of two counts of reckless conduct against Murphy. He has also been charged by the Walton County Animal Control with nine ordinance violations, including having dogs with no rabies vaccination and public nuisance.
The dogs will be put down after a 10-day rabies observation quarantine.
