Phone outages lead to frustrations in Brookhaven
BROOKHAVEN, Ga. - Dropped calls. Missed calls. No calls. People in Brookhaven who have AT&T as their cell phone provider have been having some major problems.
Eric Cohen has AT&T and says it's frustrating. "I can't work, I can't do anything without cellular service," says Cohen.
Ben Robinson just moved to Brookhaven a couple of days ago and his literally lost without his cell service. "I go outside to try to use the maps function to find my way around and I don't know where I am," said Robinson.
FOX 5 contacted AT&T and received this statement: "We are working to upgrade service for our customers in the Brookhaven area today. Service for some customers may be affected by this work, but we ar working to finish the upgrades as soon as possible."
AT&T did not have an estimated time on when service would be back to normal.
Bill Brown owns the restaurant there, he says small business owners are being affected by the spotty service.
"Businesses around here that have their point of sales and credit card processing tied through AT&T have been closing early because they're not able to accept credit cards and they're not able to process the days transactions," said Brown.
Officials at city hall say some of their cell phones have had problems, but say police services are not affected.
