Petco is making sure one Atlanta animal rescue organization will continue saving the lives of cats and dogs for years to come.

On Tuesday, Petco awarded LifeLine Animal Project a check for $1.5 million. It is the largest amount Petco has ever given to an animal shelter.

LifeLine officials said this grant will allow them to sustain a 90 percent no-kill status at shelters in DeKalb and Fulton counties. LifeLine Animal Project is encouraging Atlanta residents to adopt 20,000 dogs and cats over the next three years.

They also want people to show their support on social media by using  #In4LifeLine and #LoveChangesEverything.
