Paulding County Attempted Abduction

A Paulding County community is on high alert after deputies said two people tried to kidnap a young boy. It happened Tuesday afternoon in Dallas as the boy was walking to the bus stop in the Somerset subdivision.

The boy said two people in a gold minivan approached him in front of his house, telling him they had candy. The boy ignored the couple and went straight home.

Now, neighbors are coming together to protect the children who live in the neighborhood. They’re focusing on raising awareness and doing what they can to make sure it doesn’t happen to another child.

The Paulding County Sheriff’s Office is increasing patrols in the area and urging parents to keep a close eye on their children, especially if they play in the neighborhood or are outside unattended. Authorities said if a child is in a situation like this, they need to notify an adult immediately.

The young boy’s mother said she is grateful her son knew what to do when he was approached.

Investigators are asking anyone who sees anything suspicious to contact the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office.
