Patten named associate dean for Medical College's SW Campus

ALBANY, Ga. (AP) — The chief medical officer for the Georgia Hospital Association is set to become the campus associate dean for the Southwest Campus of the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University.

The university said in a news release last week that Dr. Doug Patten will take over the role effective Jan. 1.

Located in Albany, the school's Southwest Campus was formally established in 2005. Its first residential students arrived in 2010.

Patten had collaborated with the university while it developed the campus. At that time he was serving as the chief medical officer at Phoebe Putney Health System, where the Southwest Campus offices are still located.

Patten has been the chief medical officer for the Georgia Hospital Association since 2014.
