Parkview High School gun not used to threaten anyone
What they're saying:
Principal David T. Smith reiterated that the culture of "See Something, Say Something" is working. "Earlier today, a student told school administrators that a classmate had a firearm at school," the principal wrote. "Thanks to this responsible action, administrators were able to immediately address the situation, identifying the student, searching the student's bookbag, and recovering an unloaded gun."
"I want to assure you that at no time was the firearm used to threaten or harm anyone," the letter continued. "With that said, we are taking this situation seriously. Guns and weapons will not be tolerated at Parkview High. It is a serious violation of our student discipline policy and is against the law. The student in question has been arrested and is facing criminal charges."
What you can do:
Principal Smith asks parents and guardians to once again speak to their children about the potentially life-altering consequences of bringing weapons to school. "These decisions can have lasting impacts on their future, and it is crucial that they understand the severity of these actions," he wrote. He says anyone who believes there is a threat to campus security should reach out anonymously through the "GCPS Tips" mobile app, at P3Campus.com/5105, or anonymously by texting "GCPS" to 738477.
