Opelika 2nd grader buys Christmas gifts for entire school

OPELIKA, Ala. (AP) — An Opelika student has taken what it means to give to a whole new level by purchasing Christmas gifts for her entire school.

Southview Primary second-grader Abby Henderson says months ago, she realized some children wouldn't have gifts under the tree for Christmas. The 8-year-old wasted no time making sure that wasn't the case for the 430 students at Southview.

WSFA-TV (http://bit.ly/2hFQ3Zq ) reports by doing extra chores and with the help of donations, Henderson raised $200. With the money, she purchased a Christmas cup, two pencils, a tootsie roll and toy for every student at Southview.

Henderson says she took on the project because she wanted everyone to have a good Christmas and "no one would feel left out."

Henderson says she's looking forward to doing it again next year.
