Two people were killed in a fiery crash following a police chase in Henry County early Tuesday morning. The scene forced all lanes of Interstate 75 northbound to shut down for several hours.

The accident happened around 2 a.m. Tuesday, just south of Jodeco Road, near the 222 mile marker.

The Georgia State Patrol said Henry County police officers were involved in a pursuit with a stolen 2008 Mazda CX9 on I-75 northbound. Authorities said the stolen car left the interstate at exit 222, turned around, then reentered the I-75 northbound lanes traveling south. That's when the Mazda struck a 2003 Ford F150 head-on.

Troopers said the driver of the Ford died at the scene, and the driver of the stolen Mazda passed away while being taken from Piedmont Henry Hospital to Grady Memorial Hospital.

Authorities haven't yet identified the two drivers.

From Georgia Department of Transportation traffic cameras, you could see a vehicle fully engulfed in flames, with firefighters working hard to put on the blaze.

The scene was cleared with traffic moving smoothly again around 7 a.m., about five hours after the car and truck burst into flames.
