Officials: Train hits box truck in Coweta County, one dead

COWETA COUNTY, Ga. - The Georgia State Patrol is investigating a fatal crash involving a box truck and a train in Coweta County.

It happened on Highway 29 N near Walt Sanders Road around 3 p.m. Friday. Coweta County Sheriff's Office said the accident one person was killed in the crash.

SKYFOX 5 flew over the scene around 4:30 p.m. to see debris scattered along the track. A wrecker was helping to clear the roadway.

GSP Troopers said the driver of the box truck failed to yield to the train.

The train conductor was injured in the crash and taken to Piedmont Newnan Hospital.

The names of those have not yet been released.
