Officials: Teen arrested for shooting man arguing with his mom
TROUP COUNTY, Ga. - Authorities in Troup County arrested a teenager accused of a shooting an adult with a stolen gun Monday afternoon.
According to the Troup County Sheriff's Office, a 14-year-old boy was in a vehicle near Gordon Street in LaGrange with his mother and an adult male when the two adults started arguing. The 14-year-old yelled at the man, telling him not to talk to his mother that way, according to detectives. That's when the teen pulled out a handgun and shot the man in the abdomen.
The man was taken to Well Star West Georgia Medical Center. Investigators said he wasn't seriously injured.
The 14-year-old has been charged with aggravated assault, theft by receiving stolen property, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and possession of a handgun by a person under 18.
The sheriff's office said it's unclear how the teen ended up with the gun.
