A 3-year-old boy rescued by Temple Police officers after nearly drowning has died.

Tuesday, Oct. 2, officers heard the 911 call on the radio for a boy found unresponsive in a pool.

Officer David Yates and Lt. James Hollowood came to the home before paramedics, and were able to perform CPR.

Body camera video obtained by FOX 5 News shows the efforts from the officers. Yates first worked to expel water from the lungs before the two performed CPR together.

Once paramedics took over, Yates continued to help paramedics as the boy was transported to the hospital. He was revived and later transported to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite.

On Tuesday, Oct. 9, Temple Police confirmed the sad news that the child had died.

Officers warn parents to always be wary of making sure children do not go near pools, especially while unattended, and keeping items such as ladders out of reach to make sure they stay away.
