Officer goes beyond duty to help homeless woman find meal
COBB COUNTY, Ga. - A Cobb County police officer went above and beyond the line of duty to help a local homeless woman get a much-needed meal.
In a Facebook post, Cobb County Police said that V.I.P.E.R. Officer Walker went to check on the woman who was standing on a side of road.
When Walker asked the woman how long it had been since she ate anything, she told him she hadn't eaten for a day and a half.
The officer then dropped what he was doing to take her to a local IHOP, paying for the meal out of his own pocket.
He didn't want brag or attract any attention, but a lieutenant who happened to be at the restaurant found out what was happening and quickly took a photo.
"Officer Walker serves as a fine example to all officers and what it means to protect and serve," the department said in its Facebook post, which has now gone viral in the area.
His actions were a small gesture, but showed people how powerful even something small can be.
