Obama: US will keep looking to hit IS targets in Libya
RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. (AP) — President Barack Obama says the U.S. will continue attacking the Islamic State group in Libya as targets are identified.
Obama is speaking at a news conference in California. He says the U.S. will go after IS "wherever it appears."
Obama is pointing to a raid the U.S. carried out last year that killed a top Islamic State leader in Libya. He says the U.S. will take action when it has a clear target in mind.
Obama also says he's working with other countries to identify opportunities to thwart IS in Libya.
Obama says Libya could be successful if it had a functioning government. He says there are plenty of groups in Libya that disagree with IS and says establishing a government is a key step to resolving the conflict.
