North Carolina shooting: 2 dead after planned fight escalates
Two teenagers are dead after a planned fight at a park in North Carolina escalated into a shooting, police said Monday.

Salem-Winston Police said in a press conference Monday afternoon that seven people were shot, two of whom died, after a fight escalated at a park.
Police said the fight involving "two young individuals" happened just before 10 a.m. local time.
They had agreed to meet at Leinbach Park, which was near a middle school, and the situation escalated "significantly," police said, leading to multiple people exchanging gunfire. Police stressed the fight and shooting was contained at the park and did not happen on nearby school property.
Police said the two people that were killed were 16- and 17-year-old boys. Chief William Penn wouldn't elaborate if they were the people that had planned to fight.
The five other people that police said were hurt in the shootout include:
- 14-year-old girl
- 15-year-old girl
- 17-year-old girl
- 18-year-old man
- 19-year-old woman
Police didn’t give details about what the fight was about.
Police added that some of the victims may have also been involved in the shootout, and were working to confirm the details.
No one is in custody at this time.
