New USO facility unveiled at Atlanta airport

ATLANTA (AP) - Officials at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport have unveiled a new lounge area for military members and their families.

Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, USO Georgia CEO Mary Lou Austin and others were at the airport Tuesday morning for a ribbon cutting ceremony at the 3,200 square-foot USO Center. Officials say planning, design and construction took about a year.

Officials say the facility includes a food and beverage hospitality area, computers equipped with videoconferencing software, upgraded furniture and more.

The airport's General Manager Miguel Southwell says veterans and their families deserve a first-class facility.
