National Talk Like a Pirate Day

ATLANTA (FOX 5 Atlanta) - Thursday, September 19, is National Talk Like a Pirate Day. 

The silly day was created as a parody in 1995 by two friends. One yelled "arrr" during a racquetball game, and the idea was born. 

Newspaper columnist Dave Barry picked up on it in 2002, and it gained national attention.
