Murder trial to begin for man accused of killing fiancé; claiming suicide

DECATUR, Ga. - Jury selection begins Monday in the murder trial of a man accused of killing his fiancé, then calling her murder a suicide last year.

Antoine Hood, 30, is charged with malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

On Feb.17, 2015, Hood called 911 to report that his girlfriend, Candace McGriff, shot herself to death.

Forensic investigators, however, determined that it would have been impossible for McGriff to have killed herself based upon the evidence.

Hood was subsequently arrested and charged with the death. He was released in March on $100,000 bond.
