Mother shot in neck, taken to hospital

FULTON COUNTY - Fulton County Police are investigating how a mother was shot in the neck by her 13-year-old son.

Police said a 911 call came in around 7:44 p.m. Saturday about an accidental shooting and a gun going off at a home on Hilltop Way.

Police say the son claims he found the firearm in a park, thinking it was a toy.  He has been charged with Aggravated Assault and transported to Youth Detention Center.  

As of Saturday evening, police said the mother was in stable condition and was in surgery at Grady Memorial Hospital.
